Lawrence C. Billeaud was born and raised in Lafayette and has practiced criminal defense law in Lafayette since 1994. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before obtaining his law degree from Loyola Law School in New Orleans.
Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Edmond C. Guidry, Jr. a Judge in the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal. From 1991-1994 he served as a Felony Prosecutor for the Orleans Parish District Attorney.
